An Unmet Need
We encountered a dilemma. We needed to find a comprehensive program to address emotional abuse. But the resources were lacking. We found Batterers Intervention Programs but they placed emphasis on the physical side of abuse. The material was dry and not engaging. We found books on managing anger but not on control. There were books on anger management strategies but few that addressed the causes of anger. We found online programs for managing anger as a parent, but they made dubious claims, posted questionable testimonials, and asked for large "investments" upfront. We looked for individual therapists but none offered a sort of schooling approach -- educating individuals on the causes, manifestations of and treatments for emotional abusers. So we arrived at what you see today - online and virtual intensive programs for those who want to change their abusive ways, and an extensive, comprehensive library on materials that abusers can reach to on their own timeline.
